The link above is to a discussion of the documents and records proving the Lynns' direct ownership of the barony of Lynn in Dalry, Ayrshire. The discussion includes the items most essential to this particular issue but which are only part of a much larger history of the family presented in the book, "Lynneage - the Lynns, Linns, and Linds of Scotland and Ulster". The chapter on the Lynns of that Ilk - "Lords of Lynn, Highlees, and Bourtreehill" - is 29 pages long. Click the link above, or copy and paste this URL for the discussion:

Lords of Lynn and the Boyds
It has long been thought that the Lynns of that Ilk, a/k/a Lords of Lynn, were either vassals or a sept of the Boyds. As numerous older documents have been discovered, it is proven that the Lynns were a "landed" family and owned the barony of Lynn for three centuries before selling it to the Boyds in 1532. Even then, they kept the manor place or "mains" of the barony until 1670. See - http://scotlandinmay.house-of-lynn.com/LynnOfThatIlk.html
